TRES -The episode is entitled “Puso” and is a twisted romance film and stars Pokwang, Zanjoe Marudo, Bangs Garcia and Malou de Guzman.This is about “lust” & “obsession”.Too much love will kill you! Since pokwang is there, I would expect to get some humorous atmosphere around this episode.A must-see for Cathy Garcia-Molina helmed this episode.

Cinco – Mukha: The most intriguing episode since this is the first time where Mariel Rodriguez has gotten too serious.Here, she will portray a sadistic super bitchy advertising executive who seems to not care about others welfare.

Two security guards, one is the reliever of the other, have become good friends at the factory where they work. Boggs, who works the night shift, always brings breakfast for Tonyo, the day guard. Boggs is married to Andrea who dutifully prepares his packed food and patiently waits for him after the end of his shift. Unknown to Boggs, Andrea is actually having an affair with Tonyo. Because their trysts are always short, haphazard and done right before Boggs departs for the factory, Andrea feels very much disappointed with their sex life. With her escapades with Tonyo, Andrea finds the fulfillment that she is looking for. Boggs soon suspects that his wife is being unfaithful and threatens to kill the lover once he catches them in the act. In his anger, Boggs also beats up Andrea. Seeing Andrea black & blue, Tonyo vows to get even with Boggs. The story's chilling climax has the two men in Andrea's life - Boggs and Tonyo - sharing a meal at the factory. Raymond Lee, a friend of mine, e-mailed news of the Good Harvest film festival to Jacob Wong, director of the Hongkong International Film Festival. The Good Harvest festival, staged by Mrs. Lily Monteverde, was a one-of-a-kind offer: any filmmaker, veteran or new, can propose a film project on any subject. The catch--you only had a 2.5 million peso budget (roughly US$62,500), and ten shooting days. Jacob’s comment: “it will take a filmmaker with more than talent to make anything even passable out of 2.5 million pesos.” After watching Babae Sa Bubungang Lata, Raymond went straight home and typed on his desktop: “funny you mentioned ‘a filmmaker with more than talent…’”


Babae Sa Bubungang Lata (Woman On A Tin Roof, 1998) isn’t about films so much as it is about the people who make them. Not the film directors or producers or stars (as in Frederico Fellini’s 8 1/2 or Francois Truffaut’s Day For Night), but the little people on the marginal fringe. It’s based on a play written by Agapito Joaquin back in the 70’s, a little chamber drama about an actor Maldo (Mike Magat) and his faithless wife, Toying (Aya Medel). O’Hara, in adapting the play to screen, has updated all the cinematic references, and changed the actor to a stuntman. He added Amapola, an aging actress (Anita Linda); Nitoy, a billboard painter (Frank Rivera); his stuntman lover, Eric (Renzo Ruiz) and all kinds of subsidiary characters and their stories. The result looks less like a chamber play and more like Ishmael Bernal’s Manila By Night, like Robert Altman’s Nashville, or Short Cuts: people and their stories weave in and out of each other’s lives, crossing, opposing, loving each other.

O’Hara plays the game of the many-peopled, multiple-story film with consummate skill; even more remarkable is the way he orchestrates each story to provide a different emotional color to his tapestry. Nitoy the billboard painter is quietly and hopelessly in love with Eric; he’s also a film fan, and in him O’Hara incarnates the lover of Filipino films--ever loyal, ever abused, ever martyred and nostalgic and ignored. Amapola the aging actress embodies Filipino cinema’s glamorous past; Maldo the stuntman and his wife Toying represent the industry’s present, with its endless scrabbling for jobs and money and food.

There are sharp comic scenes, like Maldo “auditioning” with his director in the privacy of the director’s van; sad scenes, like Amapola playing “Hindi Kita Malimot” (I Can’t Forget You) on the piano. There are scenes of sudden cruelty, as when Eric violently beats Nitoy; scenes of surpassing tenderness, as when Amapola’s son finally meets her after fifteen years.

It’s all done with deceptive ease; the film, as it progresses in its meandering but never less-than-fascinating way, accumulates power. O’Hara is a master of the understated drama, the narrating of daily life in a manner absolutely true to daily life. He does on screen what Hemingway was always trying to do on paper: keep the flame of his prose, like the flame of an alcohol burner, low, low, almost to the point of winking out, until it explodes.

O’Hara works in the neorealist tradition of Vittorio De Sica and Roberto Rossellini (a tradition Lino Brocka belonged to), but there’s also a touch of the baroque, of the gothic in him. He stages much of the drama inside the Manila North Cemetery, a vast landscape of tombs and crosses and silent, weeping angels, where most of his characters--so poor they can’t afford a house--live. Against monuments of famous Filipino presidents and statesmen we watch these people eke out a living; amidst edifices of stone and black marble we watch them struggle to survive. It’s a marvelous conceit, a brilliant coup de theatre.

There are endless other details to marvel at or admire: the way the melody of “Hindi Kita Malimot” is played again and again, with various instruments and with an almost infinite variety of feelings (recalling Altman’s deft, satiric use of a movie’s theme in The Long Goodbye). The way the painter’s relationship with his lover puts to shame every recent Filipino film depicting homosexuality, male or female--how the couple is shown with a refreshing lack of pleading or self-righteousness, how their drama is seamlessly integrated into the story’s fabric.

There are flaws (you can’t expect perfection in a US$60,000 production)--a few scenes out-of-focus, a certain amount of narrative confusion--but they are almost laughably unimportant. The clumsiness actually becomes part of the movie’s texture, its visual style--as if this sad, desperate picture were made by the same sad, desperate people the picture is about.

I talk of Altman, Bernal, Brocka, De Sica, Fellini, Hemingway, Rosellini, Truffaut--great artists all--but I do O’Hara a disservice; the picture stands perfectly well on its own. You feel, watching the film, that he has the unique ability to assume a Godlike view of his characters--apprehending them in their painfully frail, all-too-human entirety--and at the same time be down on earth next to them, taking their side, rooting for them, loving them intensely. It’s the source of greatness of all his very best works, from Bulaklak Sa City Jail (Flowers Of The City Jail) to Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (Three Years Without God) to this film.

Made in about ten shooting days and for a fifth of the budget of an ordinary film, Babae Sa Bubungang Lata is an eloquent repudiation of every film that has ever cost over 10 million pesos (the normal budget for a Filipino production), with all their waste and bloat and arty pretentiousness. At the same time, it’s a sad farewell to the business O’Hara has worked and struggled in for over twenty years. “The industry is dying,” he seems to be telling us, a message we’ve heard before; but the rich ambivalence in his voice, the dark, deeply felt tones of anger and affection and regret make the message almost unbearably moving. You almost feel that the industry doesn’t deserve a tribute as lovely as this picture. It’s possibly the best Filipino film made in the past twelve years.

As i've always had trepidation viewing Filipino films, I was greatly surprised by this film. this film offers a unique perspective of prostitution in the sordid districts of manila. The changing morality (especially of a prevalently catholic manila) offers an interesting backdrop to the movie.

Leonardo Litton provides the necessary good looks (he looked better here as compared from his previous films) and Ana Capri is (as always) a sensitive actress. Don scudder is a good director. the scene where Leonardo Litton comes back to Ana Capri... when he wraps his arms around her and says that prostitutes are destined to be with fellow prostitutes... is especially touching.

An action-comedy centered on a fugitive couple (Cruise and Diaz) on a glamorous and sometimes deadly adventure where nothing and no one - even themselves - are what they seem. Amid shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals, they race across the globe, with their survival ultimately hinging on the battle of truth vs. trust.

This is the first of the two last movies for the entire series, corresponding to the first half of book 7. In this one, Harry, Ron, and Hermione go on the trek that Dumbledore sent them on to find and destroy all of the lost Horcruxes, but it won't be easy.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are fugitives from the law when the Death Eaters have taken over the Ministry of Magic and there is a 10,000 galleon price for anyone who turns in Harry to the Death Eaters so Voldemort can kill him. The Dark Lord told all Death Eaters not to kill Harry because he wants Harry for himself.

Harry doesn't know what the horcruxes look like, where they are, and he doesn't have any means of destroying them. While Harry is on this quest, he keeps having little glimpses into Voldemorts mind and he sees that The Dark Lord is also on a quest, but Voldemort's quest is to find a wand that Harry has never heard of, and when Harry investigates this a bit, his leads take him to a mysterious story about "The Deathly Hallows". So, while Harry is looking for the Horcruxes and learning more about "The Deathly Hallows", he finds himself in more danger that he's ever been in before. And when danger calls, people die... and in the last thriller of the Harry Potter series, fight breaks out and a lot of people die, and you will be in tears during every minute of this movie only to be in even more tears when it's over.

After ten years of separation, childhood sweethearts Koala and Gareth meet again only to discover that nothing much has changed--both their parents are still against their relationship.

A simple village lass who is mute since birth but can hear lives in a mountain village during the Hukbalahap era of the '50s. She is called "Ah" as it is the only sound she can mutter. Her sick father whose days are numbered is set on finding her a husband who can take care of her when he is gone. He eyes a salesman who travels from town to town and is convinced that he has run into the right partner for his only daughter.
It turns out that he has made a big mistake. When the new man in Ah's life reveals his true colors upon the death of her father, he proves to be brutal and harsh. The only thing he wants from Ah is her land. He proceeds to beat her and break her heart. Whenever he is away, Ah is driven to loneliness. One day, Ah chances upon a woman bathing naked in a river. They become fast friends and soon are sharing stories about their lives and the things they have in common. It won't be long before Ah learns that her new acquaintance is living in with a guy. It won't also take long before Ah discovers that the guy happens to be the same husband she has. And in a matter of time, Ah consents to have her husband and the other woman around in her own house.

A suburban family moves to a new neighborhood in Orange County, California with their large yet lovable Great Dane, who has a tendency to wreak havoc in his own oblivious way. But its not all living large for the Duke, who finds that fitting in with his new four-legged friends - and a potential romantic interest - isn't always easy for a super-sized teenage dog. Owen Wilson gives the beloved Great Dane his voice in the film, which also features the voices of Fergie, George Lopez, Emma Stone and Kiefer Sutherland.

Tim Allen and Tom Hanks‘ voices can be heard in Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 will dominate this weekend at the North American box office, but how strong will its take be?

Estimates for Pixar’s extremely well-received 3D effort range from $85m to $125m — and $40m is quite a wide gap. Previous Pixar releases such as Finding Nemo and The Incredibles opened to $70m when ticket prices were cheaper and 3D movies were a thing of the past, not the future. It’s probably safest to expect something in the "mid-range," or about $100-$105m. But don’t be at all surprised if the $125m prophecy is fulfilled.

Warner Bros.’ Jonah Hex, the other major release this weekend, is expected to flop — just how miserably remains to be seen. Estimates range from $8-$12m.

Part of the problem is that not many know the comic strip on which the film is based; it’s gotten poor reviews; and Josh Brolin may be a respected actor, but he isn’t a major box-office lure. Megan Fox and John Malkovich co-star.

The Karate Kid will do well, with estimates ranging between $27-$35m for the weekend. That’s about 50-60% of what the movie earned a week ago. Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith star.

His uncle tells him that he needs to take a vacation, and he hands him the keys to his house in Laguna. There, despite being the only guest in the house, Raymond notices a woman swimming in the pool…

A fake priest and a prostitute connive to stage a hoax to pocket money from the church donations...unaware that a real miracle will come their way that will drastically change their lives. When Martin ( Jay Manalo), an ex-convict, assumes the identity of Father Eman, the people from the town accepted him. But then he falls for Lorena ( Ara Mina), the town prostitute and reveals his true identity to her. Together they plan a scheme to earn the people's faith and 'sell' their miracles'. But Lorena's mentally disturbed sister Cion (Maui Taylor ) witnesses an apparition of Blessed Virgin, a real miracle that will challenge their faith and transform their lives forever.

Tonton Gutierrez is an architect who has a passion for moustached women. His wife happened to be a lesbian's ex-lover. The lesbian is dying of cancer. She has a sidekick (Gina Alajar) who's about a threatening as the Taco Bell chiuaua.
The ex-lover wants the wife to be with her before she passes on. Tonton's life is all screwed and in the end there's death, reconciliation and some stalking. I just wish the director would explain why Tonton has this thing for hairy-lipped girls, which would justify its length. Otherwise the story could be shorter by half (or half an hour) , which means less of the kinky stuff, but would be more watchable.
